Maccabi GB prepare for Israel 2005 - 17th Maccabiah Games
FPL kicks-off coach development program for Maccabi GB Futsal Team
Sep 2004
The Maccabiah 2005
Games loom ever closer, and after a poor show first time around, Maccabi GB
are taking their Futsal seriously.
Coaching staff
from U16, U18, Adult Men's and Men's 35+ went though the C1 level coach
workshop
as a first step toward improving their performance next year.
The under 16 team and coaching staff will be working closely with the FPL
academy team to work on
their match skills and fitness development in the run up to the
games. Andy Zeller, head coach of the
Under 16 squad is adamant that his team will make a marked improvement on
last years inaugural
steps into Futsal. "We'll be working with the FPL team to develop every
aspect of our game, and we
have a lot to do in order to catch up on. The quality of some of the more
experienced European teams
sets a high standard for us to catch up on", says Andy.
Andy is determined
to work on fitness as well as the technical and tactical aspects of the team
performance. A qualified fitness trainer from the FPL will also be
taking a close look at conditioning
for the team as part of this custom program. The physiology of a good
Futsal player makes special
demands on a player and Andy wants to make sure that even with limited
time left before games
commence, that his team prepare as best they can.
