The main priorities of the partnership will see the FPL role out a
similar structure as its been doing south of the border over the last 18
months. A national league will see a Scottish entry into the UEFA Futsal
Cup. The FPL will also boost its current regional leagues from 2 to 6
over the next 2 seasons. The initiative will also hope to see a Scotland
national team as well as include futsal in the SFA's football development
programme.
On the regional front, a series of centres will be
established. The first of the new regional centres will be at The Jack
Kane Centre in Edinburgh. Applications are invited from any teams
wishing to participate.
The FPL Scotland Leagues will be the only leagues to
provide an access route to the Scottish National Futsal League to be
held in the spring/summer of next year, with the incentive for the
winners being the opportunity to represent Scotland in next season’s
UEFA Futsal Championship.
Edinburgh already has a strong link with the game of
Futsal and the FPL with numerous teams playing in the Leagues at Heriot
Watt University. With subscription for the Heriot Watt leagues already
full, the demand for further competition has prompted the creation of
the FPL Scotland Jack Kane League.
It is hoped that further venues will be identified in the
very near future to meet the demand created following the successful
Total Futsal events during the summer of this year and the FPL would be
delighted to hear from teams and players interested in joining. An Open
Day taster session will take place at the Jack Kane Centre on Sunday 4th
of December from 1-5pm. To book a place, please contact Mark Potter at
