FA Futsal Cup - 2006

FC White Bear emerged as the 2006 FA Futsal Cup champions, with a convincing 5-0 victory over Baltic Utd, who went home as runner-up for the second year in succession.

Despite having lost 4-0 to Baltic in the group stages, White Bear always looked in control in the final and will be delighted to win the Futsal Cup title for the second time. After qualifying from the group stages in second place to Baltic, White Bear emerged 3-1 winners over Brazilian squad Kickers in the quarters, and then a very juicy 3-2 win over Ipswich Wolves in the semis.

Baltic never quite managed to look anywhere near the team that had beaten White Bear in the group stage nor Tranmere Victoria (3-2) in the semis. Tranmere beat last years winners Doncaster College quite convincingly in the quarter-final, but failed to pull back Baltic from 3-0 at the break.

Baltic will be keen to avenge this defeat when they face White Bear in the Serie A. Currently 2 points behind White Bear, a win would give them the Serie A Southern Conference title and a play-off place against winners from the Northern Conference.

This final will be seen as some triumph for the FPL, as both these teams lead the FPL Serie A Southern conference. Barsa and Ipswich Wolves, relative newcomers who impressed well, will feature in next season's FPL.Serie A Championship.

Bruno Ferrage (right), of Ipswich Wolves, won the Player of the Tournament award, as well as the Golden Boot for being top scorer.

Goalkeeper of tournament went to Baltic's Konstantin Filonov, who was in excellent from throughout the event.
